How can I send my invoices more securely to my customers?

In your administration settings, you can easily decide how securely you want to send your invoices.

Last updated: April 3, 2025

The settings to manage the security of customer and invoice information are found under the 'Customer portal' tab. Follow the steps below to access these:

  1. Open your administration settings by clicking the cogwheel icon in the top right corner of Payt.
    cogwheel_administration_settings_small
  2. Go to the 'Customer portal' tab on the left.
  3. Here, you will find two settings:
    1. Identity verification in the online invoice portal
    2. Sending sensitive attachments via email

Identity verification in the online invoice portal

You can decide whether customers need to complete an identity check in the online portal (checkinvoices.com) before accessing their data and invoices.

This is controlled by the setting 'Additional identity verification (postal code check) for customer portal access'. You can choose from four options.

Note: Postcode verification is only possible if a postcode is always available for your customers. This is defined by the 'Required customer address' setting under the 'Import' tab. Do you have a live administration and want to adjust this? Contact support for help.

Option What does it mean?
Require identity verification before accessing any page Customers must pass a postcode check to view any page in the portal.
Require identity verification before accessing sensitive information* Customers can only view sensitive information after verifying their postcode.
Require identity verification before accessing sensitive information* (private customers only) Only private customers must verify their postcode to access sensitive information. Other customers (businesses) have unrestricted access.
Sensitive information* not accessible. Customers can never access sensitive information.

*Sensitive information = documents and attachments related to invoices

Sending privacy sensitive attachments via email

Sensitive attachments include the invoice document (PDF and UBL) and any invoice attachments.

Option What does it mean?
Include attachments Documents are included as attachments in emails.
Exclude attachments Documents are never included as attachments in emails.
Exclude attachments (private customers only) Documents are only included in emails if the customer is not a private individual.
