How does Payt send invoices via Peppol?

Read here how Payt handles invoice delivery via Peppol.

How can I see that an invoice has been sent via Peppol?

In the invoice timeline, under “Invoice sent”, you will see the message: “UBL to PEPPOL reference 1234:123456”.

How does Payt handle failed Peppol delivery?

If the UBL delivery via Peppol has failed, you will see an error message in the timeline stating the reason. If Peppol is the only delivery method for the invoice, the invoice will be blocked and you will also see it under the filter 'Attention: UBL delivery failed':

Common error messages relate to:

  • An error in the UBL file itself.
The content of the file does not match Peppol requirements. To resolve this, a new (error-free) UBL document must be submitted.
  • The Chamber of Commerce, OIN or VAT number is not recognised by the Peppol network.
In this case, check whether the number provided is correct.

Tip: Are you having difficulty? Ask your questions at the service desk for assistance.

UBL settings

You can apply additional settings that affect e-invoicing via Peppol:

  1. You can set the UBL document to always be required when dealing with a business debtor. This ensures that if the UBL file is missing, the invoice will be blocked.
  2. You can automatically block invoices when the UBL transmission cannot be successfully completed. This ensures that if the transmission via Peppol fails, the invoice is blocked.

By enabling these settings, you prevent invoices from being shared with debtors in PDF format only. This is particularly useful if you are required to send invoices to business debtors via Peppol. For example, these settings are enabled by default for administrations in Belgium.

If the invoice is blocked for one of the above reasons, you will find it under “invoices requiring attention” on the dashboard.

It is also possible to require the UBL file as standard for invoice dispatch, regardless of whether the debtor is a business or a private individual. Please contact the service desk for more information.
