How do I enter or waive collection costs and statutory interest?

In a case, you can register or waive collection costs.

Last updated: April 3, 2025

In a debt collection case, collection costs and legal interest are charged to the customer. However, these costs are not registered in your accounting software. Therefore, it is necessary to enter them in Payt.

How do I manually waive or enter the collection costs?

  1. Open the page of the debt collection case in Payt.
  2. Click 'Actions' at the top of the page.
  3. Choose 'Register debt collection and interest costs'.

    1. Would you like to waive the collection costs? Select the 'Remission' box.
  4. Select 'Register payment'.

Did your customer pay the collection case online via checkinvoices.com? Then these costs are marked as 'Paid' by Payt, since we are sure the collection costs and interest have been paid.

How do I automate waiving the collection costs?

You can choose to automatically waive collection costs and interest when the principal amount of your invoice is paid.

  1. Open the administration settings by clicking the cogwheel icon at the top right in Payt.
  2. Go to the 'Automations' tab on the left.
  3. Activate the automation 'Waive interest and debt collection costs'.
    1. If desired, you can choose the number of days after which the collection costs can be waived.

Please note: Setting up this automation means that your case will be completed automatically when the principal sum is paid. The collection costs will not be charged to your customer afterwards.
