How does Payt distinguish between private and business customers?
This article explains how Payt determines whether a customer is a consumer or a business.
To determine whether a customer is a private individual or a business, we follow these steps:
- We check whether there is a VAT or Chamber of Commerce number. If so, we consider the customer to be a business.
- If there is no VAT or Chamber of Commerce number, we check whether anything is indicated in the accounting package. Some packages provide information such as the type of legal form. With CSV delivery, this is a separate column in the import file.
- If this is also not available, we use the 'Import customer by default as' option in the import settings:
